Oil for Y12

Postby Chris00007 » December 28th, 2020, 4:59 pm

What's the best oil to use in Y12 Wingroad?
10w30 or 10w40?

10W30 should do the trick

It has a high mileage of 170,000 km. I heard it's better to use a thicker oil in this case

Is the vehicle burning oil or losing oil? If not no reason not to use the 10W30, I've used that body in vehicles approaching 500,000KMs, maintenance is more important than milage

Once there is no oil consumption there is no need to up the body.

No leaks or burning of oil. But I'm accustomed to using Shell HX7 (semi-synthetic) 10w30.

I'm thinking of changing to Valvoline Fully Synthetic 10w30. This is a good move?

Isn't a thicker oil recommended for hotter climates anyways (as in trinidad)?

One mechanic telling me to switch to fully synth 10w30 and the other telling me to stick with semi-synth 10w40 but none can explain why
