WTK: Painting chrome.

Postby javedsport » October 7th, 2013, 9:57 pm

Yes folks, need some advice on painting some chrome Rims. Has anyone done it and what's the procedure? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I guess you could sand it and prime and hope for the best... Chrome may not take paint well... but I've never tried to redo a chrome rim.

Once sanded and primed properly there shouldn't be a problem.

You could always sell as is and purchase a set closer to what you want.

Thanks for the info but has anyone ever done it before? Anyone ever heard about etching primer?

I've painted numerous rims.... you just need to get a slight texture to the surface via scuffing and sanding, clean, apply a primer coat with paint or dedicated primer. I would put 2 primer coats and 3 top coats then a clear... but I'm not a pro at wet paint.

Or you could just plasti-dip them.... ib4haters.
