I've got a 2004 Mazda 6 LF. Two weeks ago the car overheated and the engine cut off due to a leak in the radiator. I replaced the radiator with a double core metal, started the engine bleed the air out and everything seemed ok. The next day I started the car and a short while after I heard an unusual noise comming from the engine so I took the car to a mechanic he told me it was the belt tensioner, I was'nt convinced so I checked the belt tensioner myself and it was ok, I replaced the serpentine belt started the engine but the noise was still there. I checked the engine mounts, exhaust manifold, etc. but could not determine where the noise was comming from. The sound of the noise is sort of a vibrating/semi-crackling one and is only present app. 20 secs after the engine starts, when the car is at a standstill and in traffic. The noise gets louder when the car is at a standstill and the steering wheel is turned to either side or when the a/c is on, (whilst compressor is active, when compressor shuts off noise level is reduced. Can someone please help, thanks.
