I have a question; Does anyone here believe that electronic driving aids/technology (ABS, ESP, TC, etc) compensate for the deficiencies in cheap chinese tyres.

I am starting to think so.
Either HiFly tyre technology has improved or my driving is adapted to piss poor grip (or maybe both). Now i really haven't pushed the vehicle too hard (as it wasn't mine) but the tyre didn't really miss a beat for being as worn as they were in the wet and definitely no problems in the dry.

I'm also in the market for a decent brand and set. 205/40/17 though.

Unless I can manage to fit a 205/45/17 on a CK with 17 x 8.5 rims

Would having different tyres in the front and back cause any traction issues? Eg, having a pair of maxxis in front and a pair of chinese tyres at the back.

Short answer yes but it depends on how hard you are driving the vehicle and if the road surface is wet. Your problem will be a lot more oversteer than you bargained for and it will occur at the worst possible time

I got nexen in the back of my vehicle and sunwide in the front. Never got any problems. Reason being is, the front tyres finish faster than the back and I never go to rotate any of my tyres.
Back is 2 years old and front I change once a year.
I make 5000km in 6 weeks

Im running some sticky sheit in the back and cheap sheit in the front. Working pretty good for me as I dont have to worry about the rear losing traction.
