If you don't mind manual focus you can get the Samyang 14mm prime.

Well you don't push/pull to manually grab focus, that's just to switch from AF to Manual.

Used it. An awesome lens. That's what I used on the waterfront landscape shots.

f/2.8 is there if you need it and it's sharp wide open. When you stop it down for the dof it's sharp from edge to edge.

16mm is doable on full frame too.

Very true RBphoto, IQ is awesome. The AF speed still is catching up for action though not to mention lens and accessories are very expensive.

If you just want to get a start in photography as a passive hobby I'd recommend a D5xxx If you believe you'd expand your kit (lens etc.) beyond the basic kit lens and make use of the better controls I'd recommend a D7xxx camera from Nikon.
