Re: trunk rattle

imo dynamat not only helps reduce/eliminate rattles it also helps the bass, after i matted my entire trunk any sub in there i have tested even a single kicker cvr 8" the bass was stiffer and you can feel it more.
only minor rattle is the bumper..

yes there will always have one..you need to trace existing wiring harness from outside going inside the car, find the rubber plug use a knife cut the rubber wider and force through the 0Gauge..

if the sub is out of box inspect it carefully while moving the cone evenly up and down and listen for any coil rubbing noise..the cone should move freely by hand..

Where you have it connected..car or home?
Make sure there is a good battery or power supply to the amp..also check that the speakers resistance (ohmage) matches the amp..ie 2 ohm or 4 ohm..

Re: WTK...!!

Depending on the sub..i like using 3/4..the more pressure and the larger the cutout pieces of the box it will flex.
You could use 5/8 and brace the parts that need it..

Re: BOX DESIGN........ BOX ?

for a daily driving sub..you should go with the l ported mainly because the tline will be a huge space eater, and if you have alot of power behind the sub/over-driving it will damage in time.. The tline does give a wider bandwidth and when set to play in this bandwidth is louder, smoother bass note ...

Re: Cleaner or louder?

all amps are not equal.. some have better crossovers, better parts used, efficiency, sensitivity..etc by amp swapping with no processing you cannot really pick and choose a cleaner/louder/efficient/better amp. You might notice a clean, flat sound with one amp, the other might give a deeper, heavy so...

on my calculator that box is 1.8cubic.ft @ 35Hz using 3/4MDF..what you can do is cut of 5 inches off the port length that will carry up the tuning to 38Hz..

Re: Can zero gauge be joined?

TTEC joins don't work good though, they use aluminum crimps to join and eventually the dissimilar metals will corrode and arc off Has happened to our house at least 3 times already I wonder if it's the same thing happening by me..a few times the current cuts off for like 2 seconds and comes back on...

where you tested it?
Is a totally different response in a room to a car.
You can experiment with port area it doesn't have to follow 12-16Square inches per cubic foot.
