Perhaps not, but a manufacturer branded oil will be specifically formulated for the application vs a multi vehicle oil. Eg. Valvoline MaxLife ATF states compatible with Toyota Type IV and Toyota WS, yet Toyota themselves state WS is not backwards compatible with Type IV. Same with Mazda M-V and FZ. ...
