Re: Electrical wiring advice needed

Post a good quality photo of the underside (buss run/layout) of the relay box. You can: 1- go with a relay (multiple in parallel) large enough to handle the current of the 8awg. 2- if the box is left and right as I’m picturing you can cut the buss and solder wires to two external relays which can in...

Re: help with tiida alternator wiring

I can’t remember if I tried messing with the ‘c’ pin, but 14v and above should be good. Try looking at the impact it has on your load (current) when grounding or not.

Re: help with tiida alternator wiring

I don’t think the ‘c’ pin was connected. I had it on a GA15.
The service manual doesn’t even make mention of it either.

Aside weight, I got around to converting my lincoln AC 225 to DC and I’m presently completing the assembly of a high freq arc starter/stabilizer add on to it. I gotta look into to argon setup with torch after some testing.

Re: Water pump

When you calculate the cost to repair(depending on how bad) throw in a few hundreds more and you'd get a new one.....well, my old lady does do that Correct. Most people would not replace the bearings and very few agree to the pitted shaft repair. Would this be deemed as technician failure? They wer...

Re: Cold solder from being packed down?

Most of the amplifiers I own and repaired in the past with similar failure symptoms: - all had component failure, this I’m guessing as mentioned above “thermal shock” when initial power up after the “prolonged storage” I’ve come across defective caps, transistors and ICs. Coming through the years I’...

Re: Wire with high temp insulation for engine bay?

Any 14awg, as the guy mentioned rhino works good also, flexible and quality wise a full 14awg. You're concerned about the temp vs the pvc insulation, if space permits, I strip the rhino or purchase 14awg from your regular automotive parts stores, then individually heat shrink each. I use either vito...

Normally, I use regular 14awg and heat shrink each individually or I bring some teflon wires from work.

The UWI thing if you get a good patient lecturer is the best for part timers and those who wanna correct the "splatter" they doing. Just completed one in September, for the price vs the knowledge and the consumables it very well worth it. Was on Saturday's 9-12.
